Old Mystic Brew

Embark on a journey back in time with me as we set sail into the heart of a captivating design endeavor. Introducing a beer label project that draws its inspiration from the picturesque coastal town of Mystic, Connecticut, where the echoes of the 18th century come to life through the majestic imagery of old tall ships. Our mission? To encapsulate the essence of a bygone era, allowing each bottle to tell a story that whispers of adventure, history, and the sea's timeless allure.

Design Concept

In pursuit of a timeless charm for this product's character, my vision revolved around capturing the quintessence of a meticulously brewed ale. Opting for the grandeur of 1700s tall ships as the focal point, each brew variant was bestowed with its own unique aura. By immersing myself in ship lore, meticulously curating their traits, and employing tailored prompts, I harnessed the power of AI generated illustrations with Midjourney. This creative voyage commenced with simplistic forms and delved deeper, meticulously crafting every intricate detail that I envisioned for these magnificent vessels.

Typography and Logo Design

In the quest for the product's logo, I harmoniously melded two distinct typefaces – a robust Gothic style for the initial letter and an elegant serif style for the remaining name. After a thorough exploration of diverse type styles, the winning combination emerged: Chomsky for the initial and Superclarendon for the rest. With meticulous adjustments and a dynamic tilt, the logo took its final form, gracefully complementing the ship's grandeur on the label.
